Greetings From the Keene Kiwanians
Kiwanis is an international service organization focused on making a difference in the lives of children. We, in the Kiwanis Club of Keene, focus our efforts on the youth here in Cheshire County. We finance our programs through fund raising events such as our annual golf tournament and an annual campaign with local businesses who generously support our club and its mission.
Through our Community Service Grant Program, we support a wide variety of recreational, educational, cultural, and health related programs focused on children and youth. We also support youth groups at Keene High School, Monadnock Regional High School, and Saint Joseph’s Regional School. Every year we award a scholarship to a graduating member of each high school club.
In the spring each year, we sponsor an event called Kool Wheels, a bicycle safety day and give bicycle helmets free to hundreds of children and youth. There are many activities for children to enjoy and opportunities to learn about safety at this event. In collaboration with the city, we sponsor and produce the annual Kiwanis Tree Lighting Ceremony on Central Square in late November. Scores of parents bring their very excited young children to watch the tree lighting ceremony and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus after they arrive by fire truck! We work hard for the youth of this area. But we also have fun and laugh a lot.
We meet most Wednesday mornings at 7:30-8:30 am at the Pub Restaurant on Winchester Street. Come to a meeting as our breakfast guest, and see what we are all about. You’ll enjoy hearing our speaker, laugh at our jokes, and have a good time. We would love to meet you.
Sincerely,
President and members of the Kiwanis Club of Keene
