About the Kiwanis Club of Keene - Well, Almost!

What is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

When does Kiwanis meet?

The Kiwanis Club of Keene meets every Wednesday at 7:30 AM in the Pub restaurant at 131 Winchester Street, Keene, NH.

What do you do at meetings?

Members begin arriving at 7:00 AM and socialize as they are eating their hot breakfast from the Pub's menu. At 7:30 AM, the meetings open with the Kiwanis pledge and singing “God Bless America” or another appropriate patriotic song. Then, the club president begins the meeting by introducing and greeting our guests. Committee announcements about upcoming events and projects are followed by Trivia, the weekly raffle, and "Happy Dollars. Our weekly speaker is the final portion of the meeting and our meeting concludes by 8:30 AM.

How much does membership cost?

The Kiwanis fiscal year is from October 1 through September 30. Annual dues are $125 due by September 1st. There is a new member application fee of $60, payable at the time of application for membership. Dues include International, New England District, and local Keene Kiwanis fees.

How do I join Kiwanis?

You’re invited to attend a meeting as a guest of a current member. If you join, that member will be your sponsor. Or you may attend a meeting and meet the fine men and women who make up our Club and learn more about Kiwanis. You will receive a membership brochure and application. Upon completion of the application form, approval of the Board of Directors, and payment of fees, your sponsor will schedule your induction ceremony. It’s a simple, dignified ceremony where you are welcomed to the Kiwanis Club and receive a Kiwanis lapel pin and to wear to meetings. There are no rituals.

What does Kiwanis expect of new members?

We expect you to attend club meetings as regularly as possible and participate in Kiwanis service projects and fund-raisers. You are also expected to serve as an active member of at least one committee. We do not require perfect attendance.
